controller support not responding in windows desktop client. - Revv23 - 2024-01-08

Greetings - I've been trying to run jellyfin media player on a gaming PC that I have hooked to my TV.

Running Server 10.8.10 for windows and Client 1.9.1 for windows

I have found option in client under settings -> controls - Enable gamepad

"changes will take effect after manually reloading web client."

So I have reloaded and still no response from the client. I have tried 3 ways
1. xbox controller default windows settings (i think xinput?)
2. ds5 controller w ds4windows
3. launching through steam in big picture mode with steaminput.

Unresponsive in all ways.

Anyone know how to get this working? Or is it possibly an old feature that broke in an update?

Edit - upgraded to 10.8.13 just to check did not resolve issue.

In "Display" you need to switch to TV mode for the controller to work in a way that is useful. Once you've switched to TV mode you will need to restart JMP.

Awesome! Works as expected now. They should put a note in the controller settings for future n00bs like me.

Thank you!

Ah thanks, i actually spent wayyyyy to long trying to figure this out.
ill look at making a pr to add some text to the gamepad setting to point people in the right direction.

edit:
oh turns out there is already a section in the readme
Also the help text had "(Requires: 'TV' Display Mode)"

im just blind
