VPN not possible? - NeedsHelppps - 2024-01-11

I am most definitely not a spammer. But my IP address was at one point, and it's now mine on my NordVPN account. I keep googling but I'm not finding any ways around this. If I want jellyfin, zero VPN, only public addresses?

What is going on? Are you getting an alert in Google Chrome or something?

Are you trying to connect to your jellyfin server locally or remotely.

I live at home in an apartment. My PC for this has NordVPN for other reasons. After first installing jellyfin I'm supposed to copy post either that IP address it gives me or that url. When I enter them in Chrome (or any other browser) it gives me the standard address not found error. No alerts.

I am trying to connect locally since I'm inside my apartment with my PC. But given I'm on a VPN I assume it thinks I'm trying to connect remotely.

Is there no way for me to use this PC on a VPN for jellyfin?

use the local lan ip; 192.168.0.x
use the localhost ip; 127.0.0.1
if neither work use ip routing to tell your machine Not to use the VPN; "route add ..."
if this is on android; routing won't be available but there *might be a setting in the VPN's app
if none of that works then i don't have any suggestions

How is NordVPN configured?  Is it setup so that ALL traffic HAS to go through the VPN.  Is there a setting for split tunneling?  What happens when you disable the VPN?
