Remote Access - Moods - 2024-01-23 I installed Jellyfin on and have an issue with remote access, the server is not hosted locally, but I can access it just fine via http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/jellyfin on my webbrowser, however for some reason when i try to use http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8096 it wont let me access it, and trying to add it to any client it wont connect either. I come from Emby, and the port worked fine when I used that, ive tried changing the port but doesnt do anything either. What am I missing? RE: Remote Access - Serge K - 2024-01-23 if you want to connect via wan you need to have white ip with port forwarding on router or use ddns RE: Remote Access - Moods - 2024-01-23 (2024-01-23, 01:58 PM)Serge K Wrote: if you want to connect via wan you need to have white ip with port forwarding on router or use ddns guess im not tech savvy enough to use jellyfin then, emby did all of it automaticly and just worked, guess ill have to go back for now. Dont understand why /jellyfin works but not the port. Also tried with with the domain name i have assigned to the server, but doesnt work either. RE: Remote Access - Serge K - 2024-01-23 Emby and Jellyfin use the same port You must use or Emby or Jellyfin RE: Remote Access - Moods - 2024-01-23 (2024-01-23, 02:14 PM)Serge K Wrote: Emby and Jellyfin use the same port I know, I removed Emby before i installed Jellyfin, and yes it worked fine on Emby, but it does not work with Jellyfin. RE: Remote Access - Serge K - 2024-01-23 as I know to use Emby via wan also require port forwarding. How did you use Emby before? I just installed it and it worked, port 8096 worked fine with Emby, no configuration required. I just uninstalled Jellyfin and installed Emby again, and it works fine now with Emby. can access it no problem with ip:8096 RE: Remote Access - tmsrxzar - 2024-01-23 if it works without the port added to the url then it's listening on port 80 OR you are using a reverse proxy if not using a reverse proxy then when adding clients, point them to the port that is accessible in the web browser whether it's 8096 or 80 RE: Remote Access - Moods - 2024-01-23 (2024-01-23, 02:33 PM)tmsrxzar Wrote: if it works without the port added to the url then it's listening on port 80 OR you are using a reverse proxy Wish i knew if i was, im not very tech savvy, i just used swizzin on the server I have, and installed via that, I tried your suggestion with port 80 but doesnt work, and I just dont understand why ip:8096 worked with Emby but not Jellyfin. But thanks for trying to help, I think ill just return to Emby for now. RE: Remote Access - Serge K - 2024-01-23 where did you install Jellyfin? OS? |
