VideoToolBox HW acceleration on M2 mac running in docker - Corey Clark - 2024-01-23

Hello all, I have been running Jellyfin on my M2 mac mini for awhile now. Recently I had some issues and had to completely wipe my mac and start it over from scratch so I decided to use docker for jellyfin this time. I have been trying to fiogure out how to get HW acceleration working with jellyifn running in docker. I followed this guide : Jellyfin-in-docker hardware acceleration for transcoding on macOS | oliverbley.github.io But that didnt work for me, it only lists drm under the HW acceleration options in the log. If anyone has any insight into how i could get this working I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

The author of the guide you linked was using a 2019 Intel based Mac so almost certainly won't work for Apple Silicon Macs. AFAIK, the only way to get any kind of acceleration in Jellyfin on Apple Silicon is to find a custom build of ffmpeg for Apple Silicon or build it yourself.

We have some links at the bottom of our MacOS docs.
