DLNA server macOS - ome cor - 2024-01-23

Hi everybody, I'm running Jellyfin serverĀ on macOS (native on old Mac-mini). Everything works fine when using the Jellyfin client on either my TV or iPad, but I can't seem to get the DLNA server working.

I've beenĀ using Jellyfin (happily) for over a year, but only for video. Recently I bought a AV-receiver that can also connect to DLNA servers for audio playback. So I figured I'd enable the DLNA server and share my audiofiles from Jellyfin. Unfortunately I can't get it working.

All necessary ports seem to be open (this is from terminal output);
UDP *:7359
UDP *:ssdp (which is port 1900)
UDP *:52394
TCP *:8096 (LISTEN)
TCP 8096->37274 (ESTABLISHED)

I tried other DLNA servers (Kodi on my mac-mini, Windows Media Streaming on my pc) and they immediately show up as a source on either my TV, AV-receiver, or VLC. So I'm pretty sure my network is fine. I also tried to install Jellyfin on my macbook to make sure it wasn't just my mac-mini that had an issue, but I also couldn't get the DLNA server running on the macbook.

Am I missing something here? Am I doing anything wrong? Are there known issues with the macOS version of Jellyfin/Emby DLNA server?

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with this.

Cheers!
Cor

RE: DLNA server macOS - tmsrxzar - 2024-01-23

just for context
the last time i tried to enable the dlna server in jellyfin it did not work for me either
enabling a different brand/software showed up immediately so not really sure
i spent 0 time or effort to figure it out and i'm not a dlna user so this is just to say that your experience is not unheard of and i don't know that you did or didn't do anything incorrectly

@tmsrxzar: Thanks for letting me know. Just to be clear; You also run the macOS version of Jellyfin server? And do you run the native version like me, or the docker container?
