Can't Live TV Timeshift using the Roku client - HokieRulz - 2024-01-28

Client: Roku 2.02
Server: Linux Docker 10.8.13

Is there a way in the Roku client to start from the beginning for a Live TV recording that is in process?  When I first set up Jellyfin late last year I tested this on Roku and thought it worked well, but now I can't find a way to do it.  What I have tried in the Jellyfin Roku client, along with results:
  • Starting from the Live TV guide: This starts the channel from the current time, with no option to start from the beginning
  • Click on the recording in the "Latest in (Library)" section: Results in the message "This type is not yet supported: Recording"
  • Attempting to play from the library where the recording is being placed: The Jellyfin Roku client crashes, and it returns to the main Roku home screen
Am I just missing how to do it?  If I'm not just a DFU (entirely possible), then I'm thinking this may have been functional in the v1.6.6 client, but hasn't yet been implemented in v2.0.x?  (The new client is great, by the way!)

Thank you everyone for the great work on this project!

If it is transcoding, I think you might be able to. If it is direct playing, I don't think there is a way to go back since the server is not buffering anything.

@TheDreadPirate:  Thank you for your quick response!

In this use case, there is buffered show data on disk.  To help clarify, here is a process example of timeshifting working correctly in Jellyfin, only using the web client instead of the roku client:

1. Start recording of a one hour OTA Live TV show.
2. 10 minutes into the recording I can see that there is a .ts file in the library to which I am recording the show.
3. In the JF web client, go to the library where the show is being recorded and start playing.  It starts from the beginning of the show and correctly indicates that there is 10 minutes of media remaining to play.
4. I can watch for a couple minutes, and then rewind to the beginning.  It will correctly show that there is now ~12 minutes remaining to play.

However, I can't find a way to start from the beginning using the Roku JF client (even at the same time when actively timeshifting using the web client.)  With both the web client and the roku client (when started from the TV guide), both are direct streaming.  In both cases the video stream is being repackaged, and the audio stream is being transcoded.
