Noob question, how to access Jellyfin installed on Synology container manager? - Meelelahutustlik - 2024-01-29

I'm very new to everything, NAS, Jellyfin etc. So I think it's so noob question that no one has had this problem before, at least I can't find answeres on the internet.

I installed container manager on Synology DSM 7.2. There I used the guide on this page: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/installation/synology to get jellyfin working. Only setting I could not do is "use the same network as docker host" because it does not exist for me (?).
So when I try to access "https://localhost::8096" i just get Unable to connect. Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:8096

Every guide I've seen seems to easily use this address to connect and no one has that problem. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

unless you are using firefox on the NAS itself (unlikely), localhost is never going to work - that connects back to the machine you're on

try the ip of the NAS instead

Yeah, I'm not using firefox on nas.
How do I know what my NAS ip adress is? Network/General/DefaultGateway? I'm really not understading this Slightly-frowning-face

for general usage of your NAS (like finding it's IP) i suggest their forum https://community.synology.com/enu

That's because the guide you used from the Jellyfin docs is showing the old version of Docker.
Docker has been redone and is now called Container Manager (which is what you're using now). The pages to do things have been moved around.

When you reach the second page that has "Port Settings" at the top, either do one of two things:
1. On the option for the ports, add "8096" for the "Local Port".
2. Scroll all the way down, and under the "Network" section where it says "bridge", click on it and change it to "host".

Thanks! You've been very helpful! Did the #1 and got it working. Thumbs-up

Option 1 worked for me as well. New to Jellyfin, and this post really helped. Thank you both!
