Best Practice- users - RDeNatale - 2024-01-31 I’v just started moving from plex to Jellyfin. On setup I gave the admin user its own name. I also made a ‘plain’ user with the name I use for myself on the lan. I’m not sure why I did that, might have seen something during the onboarding process. Now I’m wondering if it would have been better to have used my regular username for the admin user, so I wouldn’t have separate watched status. I’d still create separate users for my wife etc. Thoughts? RE: Best Practice- users - tmsrxzar - 2024-01-31 imo, the admin account should only be used for admin roles not watching videos so there is no need to retain watched states for admin my setup admin - only does admin things user1 - general all purpose household, can watch but cannot modify or do admin things user2 - general+my stuff only users3-99 - general+their own library |
