FFMPEG using 100% of GPU while streaming - thiagohds - 2023-07-22

Is it normal? I have a RTX 3060 on the PC I use Jellyfin on (I only open it when I'm going to watch something on the tv) and I noticed that when I start streaming ffmeg uses 100% of my gpu.

I think it's a bit too much. Is there a way to limit the use or something? One thing I noticed is that it seems jellyfin is transcoding the whole file at once. My stream is 4K -> 4K.

I'm using Windows 11 pro and Jellyfin 10.8.10. I've enabled Nvenc. Here's a link to the CPU usage and FFMPEG log.

We would need the main jellyfin log to figure out why it is transcoding.  But it is currently transcoding from HEVC to H264 and the EAC3 audio to AAC.

What are you watching jellyfin on?  From the same computer hosting?  Or from the jellyfin AndroidTV App?  Something else?

You can throttle transcoding, yes.  Not the SPEED, per se.  But it will stop transcoding once it gets far enough ahead.  Settings > Dashboard > Playback (on leftside) > scroll to bottom for "Throttle Transcodes".

I'm streaming to a LG TV using the official jellyfin app from the LG content store. I'll try to enable this option and see how it works. Thanks for the help!
