Latest AMD GPU drivers broke hardware acceleration - Sandoitchi-san - 2024-02-07

Hello there !

My Jellyfin setup used to work really nicely, with hardware decoding on my RX 6750 XT with drivers in version 23.12.1. Problem is it doesn't work now with the latest version, which is 24.1.1. I did revert to the latest working version, but I had to update to latest version, and for some reason I can't go back (I mean technically I could but it would create other problems).

Does anyone have experienced this issue, and maybe resolved it ? If so, I'll be glad to know how !

Thanks for reading ! Smiling-face

My bad, I just saw that this has already been reported. Looks like the latest AMD GPU drivers are in cause. Guess I'll try to go back to 23.12.1 but it's not a good solution for me.

Anyway thank you !

im guessing you're running some version of windows? 7,8,10,11?
and you're using a version of jellyfin? which is?
and your ffmpeg version would be?
and what's broken is va-api? something else?

it would be best not to assume everyone reading knows what you're running

Yep.  Quite a few people had issues with AMD's 24.1 driver.  Even Intel's first 2024 Windows driver was problematic for transcoding.
