What are these BIF Files? - puffyx - 2024-02-11

Hello there,
Jellyfin runs at docker on my Synology DS220+. At the last 3 days my cpu on the DS220+ is between 98% and 99%. Jellyfin creates BIF-Files. When i stop this, the cpu goes to normal.
What are these BIF-Files and do i need it?

Starting from Jellyfin 10.9 we generate "trickplay" images. Those are used to show thumbnail previews of the video while seeking. They are saved as bif files.

Hopefully this is this a server side option?

I believe it is implemented as a scheduled task, in which case you can disable the task. Not 100% sure about that though as I use the stable release myself.

Okay, i found the scheduled task and disabled it. I use Jellyfin with Kodi, so i think i dont need thies "trickplay" images.

Thank
