Prevent Stream from downloading - Orpheus77 - 2024-02-11 Hi there! We want to use Jellyfin for an audio guide system in our museum. So I want the users to get an audio stream on the mobile device without downloading the file or use an app on the mobile. If I copy the streaming URL from a file and try to open it on a mobile the devide always wants to download the file. How can I get it work to stream it? br Stefan RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - Orpheus77 - 2024-02-12 Please help! How can I stream the files without save it on the client? RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - tmsrxzar - 2024-02-12 this is expected behavior when not using the jellyfin client/web interface RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-12 The ONLY way I can think of for your use case is to have a "guest" user, or multiple guest users, with no password. Setup a QR code at the start of the tour with the jellyfin web URL, modern mobile browsers should handle Jellyfin just fine. If you have multiple tours, each guest user is assigned just the audio file for that tour to avoid confusion. RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - Orpheus77 - 2024-02-19 Hi THEDREADPIRATE - this is exactly what I want to do. So 2 questions: How can I create guest users with no password? How can I stream the content? At any test I made, the browser asked for a download path instead of playing the file in stream. And what do You mean with "tour" - a playlist? RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-19 You can create an account and just not set a password. JF doesn't require that you set a password. A browser asking you to download not something JF controls. That is a browser behavior we can't change. You can use QR codes to both link to Jellyfin and pre-fill fields (like username). As long as their phone is relatively modern their browser can run Jellyfin no problem. They wouldn't have to download our app. (2024-02-19, 01:59 PM)Orpheus77 Wrote: And what do You mean with "tour" - a playlist? I'm assuming this is for a museum or something. I'd assumed you had multiple routes or something. If not, ignore that comment. RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - Orpheus77 - 2024-02-19 Is there a plugin or something I can test? I don't want to force our visitors to install a client like VLC. RE: Prevent Stream from downloading - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-19 Re-read my last post, I edited it after posting it. |
