Jellyfish on Raspberry PI - creative-2008 - 2024-02-12

I am a long time user of Plex Media Server running on the Raspberry Pi 4. I am considering making the switch over to Jellyfin. I was wondering:

1) What users might say to persuade me?

2) I am currently running Raspberry Pi OS. Is this a good idea for Jellyfin?

3) What is considered to be the best set-up guide?

Thanks in advance.

i would rather dissuade you from doing this
raspberry pi is not powerful enough for Jellyfin and it is recommended against on the hardware selection page https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/hardware-selection/#low-power-applications

you're going to have a bad experience and then what follows will be a bunch of new posts on how it's not working properly which can't be fixed

You use Plex if you want things easy and done for you.

You use Jellyfin is you care about 100% self-hosting with no dependence on Plex's infrastructure, no subscriptions, no ads, no upselling, full control, no spying, don't have to worry about a TOS violation, etc.

If you don't care about those things, stick with Plex.
