Asus VivoMini VC66-C as Jellyfin server? - Zeebo - 2024-02-22 Hi, I'm looking for a new power-efficient mini pc for my budget Jellyfin home server. I saw a listing for a cheap second-hand Asus VC66-C with an I7 8700 and 16GB of RAM and considering buying it. I was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge about this machine? Does it support popular linux distributions? Any known issues with hardware acceleration? Any info on idle / load power consumption? I had issues with my Intel NUC so I don't want to deal with those type of things again.. I couldn't find any info online about it so I'm kind of suspicious even though on paper, it should be a great solution. What do you guys think? RE: Asus VivoMini VC66-C as Jellyfin server? - nyanmisaka - 2024-02-22 This is a fairly mature configuration. It should work out of the box in any mainstream Windows/Linux distro. The only downside is that it doesn't have any hardware support for AV1, and if you plan to upgrade your media library to AV1, you may want to get a newer CPU model (11th Gen or newer). In terms of power consumption, it has a 14nm desktop processor, so don't expect it to have the same power consumption as an Intel NUC (mobile processor). |
