Music - Daniele Trentin - 2024-02-22 Good evening, I am a new user. I setup Jellyfin in a container running on OMV 6 on my Raspberry Pi4. I have my music, shows and movies stored un a USB hard disk. Jellyfin handles correctly shows and movies, but I can't get it sort correctly my music library. I have a main folder Music/ with 4 subfolders for different albums (that are shown correctly) and another folder Various/ which stores about 500 loose mp3s. Jellyfin puts all those files in a single album, and can't download any image/album cover for those files. I tried to rescan libraries several times but to no avail. All files have their tags, I manually added them. Also, updating metadata didn't solve anything. Where's the issue? RE: Music - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-22 When you say it these files are tagged, how well tagged are we talking. 1) Ensure your files follow our guides. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/music/ 2) Run your music through MusicBrainz Picard to ensure that as many of the tags are populated. RE: Music - Daniele Trentin - 2024-02-24 Thanks for the response. Well, did some more experimentation, I think there's something weird going on. Here's my actual situation: - I have a folder, as per last time, where my music is, which is [NAS]/Music. Jellyfin's library is pointed here. - Inside I have 4 subfolders, organized in this way: -Gundam Unicorn OST -Gundam Unicorn - Files.mp3 -Pink Floyd - The Wall - CD1 - Files.mp3 - CD 2 - Files.mp3 - TES5 - Skyrim OST - CD 1 - Files.mp3 - CD 2 - Files.mp3 - CD 3 - Files.mp3 - CD4 - Files.mp3 - Miscellaneous - Folder 1 - Files (processed by Picard).mp3 The files under Miscellaneous are various ACDC songs, tagged with Picard and displaying and playing correctly in my PC (using a media player). The folder structure seems ok to me, according to Jellyfin documentation. In Jellyfin, under "Albums", I have the first three albums display correctly (and playing coorectly). Then, ACDC songs are frouped into a single album with a wrong name (actually, it is from another song in my librari but which is not into Jellyfin music folder). If I enter the album, I have all tracks from ACDC, all with the same artwork (whereas the same files in my PC library have the correct pics). If I click on ACDC under "Artists" it points me on this album. I was expecting a behaviour similar to a medla player, where I can click on an artist name and see only the songs/albums made by that artist...I thought Jellyfin could sort my music according to tags rather than folders...or am I missing something? RE: Music - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-24 We've recently updated our Music documentation (a month ago?). Prior to the update it indicated that tags were the only thing that mattered. But after a lot of user reports one of our devs some testing and updated our docs to reflect that folder structure does matter, though tagging is still the most important. RE: Music - Daniele Trentin - 2024-02-26 I read the documentation the day I last posted...as far as I have seen my setup should be ok...? RE: Music - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-26 Can you rescan your library? If you're willing to risk changing a lot of things, select replace all metadata? RE: Music - Daniele Trentin - 2024-02-28 Rescan the whoele library - nothing changed. Rescan only the music library, allowing for replace images and metadata - it says that the update is programmed, nothing else... Nothing changed... RE: Music - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-28 Yeah. Not sure that will work without reorganizing the files. Another user here having similar issues with "loose" music files. RE: Music - Daniele Trentin - 2024-03-03 do you have a link to the other thread, so I can give a read, please? Any advice on how to solve the thing? I think now it's everything about managing "loose" files...I don't see much sense in making dozens of folders and sub-folders for a single song RE: Music - TheDreadPirate - 2024-03-04 This one. But the answer is the same. Follow our music documentation. Which includes proper folder organization. https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-find-music-files-in-subfolders https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/music/ |
