problem with subs and audio - wolfgangam - 2024-02-23

hello,

I've got some issues with audio and videos containing subs that I'm hoping someone has solution for.
My main device I'm using is LG tv and I use the web browser, so all the issues below happened there.

1. I was watching a movie, stopped in the middle, and when I returned later that day, there was almost no sound at all... I could hear some whispers, but it was almost all gone.
Tried to start it from the beginning and it didn't fix it  so I gave up and watched something else...

2. I had a few movies with subs that came with the movie file (don't know how it's called, ripped?) , and when trying to watch it, it was very leggy and looked like it was playing at 10 fps...
after trying to play with the settings, I was forced to replace the movie version.
it did work fine on the PC.

3. again issue with subs within the movie file, when adding external subs to it, it shows them on the list but trying to select it doesn't work or if there is big list of subs in 10 languages , 9 of them will do nothing and one will show subs in random language...
also it's impossible to sync them in that stage, so again I'm forced to look for another version of that movie

thanks all

What version of WebOS is your TV running?

What are your Jellyfin server specs?

What OS is your Jellyfin server running?

Can you share your Jellyfin logs with us via sourcebin?

the logs needs to be after the issue recently happened or it doesn't matter?

RE: problem with subs and audio - wolfgangam - 2024-02-24

3 more issues I just stumbled on :

1. tried to choose different subs , said "fetching data" or something like that on the right corner, waited a few seconds and went back to previous subs, and after about a minute, both started to show simultaneously.
2. tried to play a movie from the middle and it would not start.  it would start perfectly fine from the beginning , but when jumping to any other part I would wait for 1-3 min and nothing happens, it freezes.
these 2 just happened on webOS 8.2.0-20, while using jelly from the browser
3. sometimes when I do manage to start a movie from the middle, the subs will be out of sync, after being perfectly fine when playing from the start.

WebOS TV SM9500PVA - version 5.40.10 - not all issues are specific to this TV, some occur in all.
server specs - AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16GB  memory, Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB, WD 16TB HDD Ultrastar DC HC550
Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS
jelly Version: 10.8.13

as for the logs, can you tell me which one you are looking for? there are a lot :

log_20240424 and the latest ffmpeg log.

RE: problem with subs and audio - wolfgangam - 2024-02-26

is there anything specific from the logs I can send you because it is filled with external ips that I don't think I can share

RE: problem with subs and audio - TheDreadPirate - 2024-02-26

In a text editor you can find and replace those IPs. Just put a place holder like "remote client 1" and "remote client 2" just so I can associate logs with a particular client.

If I knew exactly what I was looking for I would ask for them. But I need to see what the activity and context around the activity to determine what happening vs what should be happening, etc.

hi,
sorry for the delay, the log is 8mb and when I try to paste it to the site and save, it gives an error, any other way to give it to you?
the ffmpeg log is small so here it is https://sourceb.in/HX5zta7JRf

RE: problem with subs and audio - TheDreadPirate - 2024-03-07

Stop Jellyfin, rename the jellyfin log files, start jellyfin, replicate the problem, share the fresh log. From the ffmpeg log, I see the subs are SRT. Do you have on-the-fly subtitle extraction enabled? This setting is located in the library settings.

RE: problem with subs and audio - wolfgangam - 2024-03-14

no, I don't have that setting enable in the "playbeck" section, I didn't find it in the library section.
let me see what I can do about the logs.
thanks
