I am trying to set up an extremely basic server but since Im not very network literate, I can't seem to find a solution.
I am getting the "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." when trying to log into the Jellyfin Media Player
So far everything has been done on a windows 11 PC. JF Version 10.8.10 10.8.1010
After logging into the JF Server it says the server is 192.168.1.100:8096 (Default) and that is what I am plugging into the JF Media Player but I get the error above.
I have cleared everything from the browser (history, cache, cookies), ensured the network is set to private, and that JF is allowed thru the firewall.
In the networking tab of the server I haven't changed anything other than allowing remote access.

Is that the actual IP of your jellyfin server? Or is that just the example given?

When I log into the JF server that’s the IP that shows up at the top of the dashboard
Is there another way to verify which IP is being used?
I believe when I first set up the server in that section I may have used a random website name, I assumed changing it in the dashboard section would have updated everything

What does "log into the JF server" mean here? Where are you "logging in" from and what address are you using to log in? Screenshots?
On the server, open a windows command prompt. Can't remember if it needs to be an admin command prompt or not.

ipconfig /allThat will list the IPs of all the NICs in your server. Typically, one of them will be something like 192.168.X.X.
Does your router have any settings that would prevent devices from talking to each other? Usually called something like "AP Isolation".

I downloaded installer/jellyfin_10.8.10_windows-x64.exe and it created an exe called "Jellyfin Server"
When I open this up it creates an icon in my windows tray, right click start server then right click open jellyfin.
From here is where I "log in"
Just now when I did it (without clicking start server) it showed the server as "192.168.1.100:8096" and it gave the same error.
Once I started it (from the tray icon) it started working.
This is all on Chrome, I am still having this error in the Jellyfin Media Player
I am using eero mesh wifi system, I did not see anything that would disable devices from communicating with eachother.
Also for clarity, all of the work I am doing is currently on a single device (Windows 11 PC).

Eero's documentation says that the default address space is 192.168.0.*. And I see in Jellyfin's web source code that 192.168.1.100:8096 is the example they give and is almost certainly not your server's actual IP.
Win + R to open the run window. "cmd". ipconfig /all.
