Moving from Plex to Jellyfin - BlimBlamSmashySmash - 2024-03-13

I have moved from Plex to Jellyfin and all my films have instantly shown up in Jellyfin with the correct metadata.  However, TV shows are not.  I just pointed it at my Plex collection which I've used FileBot to name so it's proper.  FileBot doesn't seem to work for Jellyfin.  Do I need to manually rename everything for Jellyfin or is there a better way?

What are some example file/folder names? Are the shows in a Shows library type or did you use the mixed library type?

Films and TV are in the same share but different folders. I'm using standard Plex naming convention such as Peaky Blinders {tmdb-60574}/Season 3/Peaky Blinders -s01e01 - Episode 1. Films are 8MM (1999) {tmdb-8224}/8MM (1999).

And each folder is in their own dedicated shows/movies library? They aren't in the same library?

Squiggly brackets {} will cause issues in Jellyfin. Jellyfin uses square brackets [].

Which is weird because it works fine for every single of the 5,100+ films I added, but not for the TV shows. Is there a reason you could think of to explain that? Also, I figured there were some changes required as I mentioned in my post, so my question was more about finding an automated, or more automated way than renaming each file one at a time. There are more than 20k files to change.

I would use sonarr. You should be able to change the file structure to jellyfins perfered layout on mass. Ive done it once or twice and had minimal issues.

I didn't realize Sonarr can do Jellyfin too.  I was planning on having a go at setting it up this weekend, along with Radarr.

It can do anything you just need to set the file naming and folder scheme correctly. Radarr too I believe.
