Scanning Long - IceQB - 2024-03-20

Scanning takes forever, initial scan went fine.
Few days later its taking longer 2-3hrs.
Logs have - [WRN] Unable to find linked item at path

I did, change scan folders after change in setup.
After which I just changed scan folders in respective Libraries.

Should I have deleted all added items first & rescanned?
Or would JF not have just removed dead links & added new links?

Is this the cause of endless scanning times?

What OS is Jellyfin running on? Is your storage directly attached or is it on a NAS?

RE: Scanning Long - IceQB - 2024-03-21

Ubuntu 22 on Nvme
storage mounted nas

Do you have real time monitoring enabled in the library settings? If so, turn it off. AFAIK, none of the network file system protocols properly support it.

OK, removed.
Running scan to see duration

...Did not make a difference

RE: Scanning Long - TheDreadPirate - 2024-03-22

What source are you using for metadata? I've seen this when someone set TVDB as their sole metadata provider.

RE: Scanning Long - IceQB - 2024-03-25

TheTVDB
TheMovieDB
Open Movie Database
Have those enabled

Ran some tests yesterday, with no new content added scanning took 18 minutes.
Added some content & it took 19 hours to finish scanning

Try switching to TMDB as the primary. TVDB has a much lower API rate limit. I'm wondering if that is part of the problem.

I just setup a test install on my Ubuntu desktop with all my media on my Ubuntu server. Timing how long it takes to add a chunk of my library.

RE: Scanning Long - IceQB - 2024-03-25

I've moved TMDB to the top & TVDB to the bottom
Will see how long it scans at next scan interval

This took about 75 mins.  Much longer than on the actual server where the media and jellyfin are on the same host.
