Testing 10.9 prereleases - felix920506 - 2024-03-28

With the 10.9 feature freeze in effect, volunteers are asked to do some testing for the new release. While I have been bullying a few fellow members in Matrix to help test, it doesn't look too good if I don't also test myself. I'd like a place to post random things about the testing process so here I am. I'm going to post random things I encounter during testing here. Anyone else is free to join in as well.

A bit of background about me:
I first heard of Jellyfin from the LinusTechTips video last year. Currently I am a member of the Triage team and mostly help with Triage work on the main repo. I usually don't help with troubleshooting on Matrix because troubleshooting has the tendency to make my blood pressure go through the roof sometimes 😅

While I am going to be testing some things, I won't really be able to do much regrettably. I study abroad, almost halfway around the world from home. (Both places are in northern hemisphere and time difference without DST is 13hrs but close enough. Google maps says I'm 12500km from home) As such, I don't have the luxury of having things to test on hand since most of my gear is halfway around the world. I expect to be mostly trying to reproduce bugs found by others.

My testing setup / environment:
I'm going to be doing most of my testing on my laptop (a 2021 Macbook Pro 14 inch). Specs: Apple M1 Pro 6P+2E, 14 Core GPU, 32GB Ram and 2TB SSD

First bug found:
I didn't anticipate to find much, especially severe bugs. However, just casually using my test Jellyfin setup immediately broke something. I noticed that my anime wouldn't play in Firefox for some reason. It would instead endlessly spin. According to the logs, it wasn't trying to transcode either. I switched gears to Chrome and it immediately started playing without issues. And here we have I believe the first new issue found in unstable since the feature freeze announcement.
