What are the "sacrifices" referenced in the Quick Start? - Domojestic - 2024-03-30 I'm interested in setting up a Jellyfin media server, and the Quickstart has a sentence that's a bit vague: Quote:Our defaults sacrifice some absolute self-hosting for often requested features. What is this in reference to? The next sentence says to "review the documentation," but since there's no information about what these features are or what sacrifices are being made, I have no idea where to look. This is mostly a curiosity, rather than a deeply genuine concern I have or anything; any answers are kindly appreciated! RE: What are the "sacrifices" referenced in the Quick Start? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-03-30 I BELIEVE they are talking about inclusion of casting support and Youtube trailers. The web configuration link in that section has this in it. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/web-config/#privacy-focused-changes I'm assuming if someone cares about their Jellyfin being absolutely offline and absolute privacy, these may be considered features that "phone home" to Google. But, as the doc states, these can be turned off if this is a priority for someone. |
