QuickSync transcoding on Synology DS220+ (Intel Celeron J4025) - fritzmg - 2024-04-05
I am running Jellyfin (10.8.13) in a Docker container (jellfyin/jellfyin:latest) on my Synology DS220+ which comes with an Intel Celeron J4025 which is supposed to have QuickSync hardware encoding available. I enabled Intel QuickSync in the Playback settings - plus all the settings as outlined in this article: https://mariushosting.com/how-to-install-jellyfin-with-hardware-transcoding-on-your-synology-nas/ (Step 31+)
However, it is unfortunately not working. This is the ffmpeg log entry from the last attempt:

Ah, just figured it out myself. It's a permission issue - as outlined here the respective user needs to be added to the
render or input group. Since I am not really sure that's possible with the Docker image on the Synology NAS (or at least I don't know yet how you would do that) I tried running the container with root permissions - and that works.
