Downloading artwork - kiwichick - 2024-04-05

As per the server settings, if I want to "save artwork into media folders", is there any way to download only certain types of artwork? eg: only posters and logos.

In the library settings, there is a "Fetcher Settings" option above the image settings that provides you a limited set of options.

Thank you so much for that, I'd completely forgotten about those.

Are you able to answer any of the following:
1. Does it download the artwork that is currently set for an item, or choose artwork from one of the selected metadata providers?
2. Is it possible to change the name given to the files when they're downloaded (eg: custom CSS)? I use "poster" and would rather not change that, but the downloads seem to use "folder".
3. Is there any other way (eg: custom CSS) to exclude certain types? For example, fanart isn't included in the options.

1. I think you would have to rescan and select "replace all metadata" and check "replace all images".
2. You can, folder is a supported image name, but I am not sure if it would change how it behaves.
3. Not that I am aware of, but I haven't explored these settings much. FWIW, I've never seen Jellyfin download fan art.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
1. Thanks, 'scan for new and updated' works better because if the image already exists in the media folder, it isn't replaced. However, because of the naming I've referred to in question 2, it re-downloads some existing images because they aren't named the same as Jellyfin names them.
2. When images are downloaded, they're automatically named 'folder'. I know I can manually change them to 'poster' but I'd like to know if there's a way to to have them automatically named that when they're downloaded? And for season artwork. Jellyfin names them folder.jpg but I'd like them named season[n].jpg where [n] is the season number.
3. Strange, I wonder where the fanart.jpg images came from.

Do you have other apps that interact with or manage your library? Like I said, I am not aware of any settings in Jellyfin to download fanart, nor any of the default/common plugins. Do you have any additional plugins that adds that? I vaguely recall there being a fanart plugin.

AFAIK, there is no way to make jellyfin name them "poster" instead of "folder" without changing the source code. If your server is running Linux I can give you a command to super easily find and change the file names, though.

***EDIT***

There is a fanart plugin in the official repo. But it is not installed by default.
