Roku Crashes a/w thumb.bin Files - Brian - 2024-04-07

In recent months my Roku app crashes when attempting to play recently recorded content, older content remains playable. I believe I've associated the generation and presence of <episode name>-thumb.bin files in the same folder as the .ts files to be at least part of the problem.

Once I removed all occurrences of .bin files on my data disk, previous content that would crash the Roku plays significantly more reliably.

Last evening when my system recorded an SNL episode, the .bin file was generated and that content crashes Roku. Also, presence of the .bin file increments the "episode count" feature (i.e. "Season 49" contains one episode, but the episode counter reads "2"). Content that crashes Roku can be played via browser but again, the episode counter includes .ts and .bin files.  Older SNL folder "Season Unknown" from which .bin and files have been scrubbed plays fine in via Roku.

How can I generate good thumbnails that don't crash the Roku?

Yes, it certainly does. Thank you for alerting me to that thread.
