I tried 10.9 a few months ago and google tv app didn't work, but I was wondering since 10.9 has officially been released for testing if the android app would work.

Jellyfin for Android version 2.6.0 works with unstable. As long as you have the latest 10.9 build, the current Android TV release should work with unstable. There was a bug on the server side that caused issues with Android TV that was release several weeks ago.
