How do you use the Libraries vs the Genres feature? - c2h6 - 2024-04-20 I'm reorganising my media collection and thinking about how to best sort my media. I used to have just 3 libraries (Movies/TV/Documentaries), but I realise that some people sort into genres using Libraries - for example, separate libraries for "Drama", "Comedy", "Reality TV", etc. What do you do, and why? I thought sorting into genres using Libraries would break the way the Genres tab works, but I could be wrong. RE: How do you use the Libraries vs the Genres feature? - bitmap - 2024-04-20 I use genres as it makes it obvious for my users (I generally pick the first genre listed from IMDB/TMDB) and they can stick to what they're interested in. It doesn't "break" the genre tab, it just lets you slice that library at an intersection. For example, my Horror library includes the genres Action, Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Crime, Drama, Fantasy, Horror (duh), Mystery, Romance (...what?), Science Fiction, Thriller, and TV Movie under the Genres tab. All of these movies live in the Horror library, but also intersect with another genre and are thus filed appropriately. Just sort your main movie folder by the genre you want, and then select everything that comes up and add them to a collection for that genre. |
