User Account Setup with Non-Visible Admin User - Schocker - 2024-04-21 Hey all, I've created five users in my setup and for simplicity sake let's call them Dad, Mom, Kid1, Kid2, and Admin. I have created Dad, Mom, Kid1, and Kid2 to preserve each persons viewing data and all passwords are blank. I created Admin to administer the server and have set a password for this account. Each user has a tag in parental control to prevent certain videos that person would not be interested in from showing under their account. Admin has the ability to view everything. What I would like to have happen is for each user, except for Admin, to be able to select their account, without prompting for a password, and take them into their dashboard. For Admin, I would like that account to prompt for a password every time. In the client, I can enable automatic sign in however it allows automatic sign in for the admin account (obviously not prompting for a password). I can set "Always ask for credentials" however now I need to select the user (which is what I want) but now I have to scroll down and select "use a password" and then scroll down to sign in to get to the users dashboard. My questions: 1. Is there away to prompt for a password on only select accounts every time? 2. I've tried hiding the admin account by selecting "Hide this user from login screens" however the admin account always shows on the login screen. Is that possibly a bug? Thanks! PS - I love Jellyfin! Awesome work Jellyfin team! RE: User Account Setup with Non-Visible Admin User - Schocker - 2024-04-21 For question number 2, I just did a test. With "Hide this user from login screens" selected, the admin user does not show on the log in screen in my browser however it does show on the login screen on my Android TV. Unless I'm missing something (which I probably am), it appears the Android TV app ignores this setting. RE: User Account Setup with Non-Visible Admin User - FactoriedMyAuth - 2024-04-22 I use the same setup for accounts. My admin account is always hidden and I have to manually type it in for it to show up. It has worked this way for my Samsung TV app, general browser access, Android phone app, and Google TV Chromecast. I haven't used Android TV. RE: User Account Setup with Non-Visible Admin User - TheDreadPirate - 2024-04-22 If you've previously logged into the account on that TV it will remember it. If you've hidden the account and want to test it on your TV you should clear the app cache. RE: User Account Setup with Non-Visible Admin User - Schocker - 2024-04-23 Ok thanks. I just tested it. As you mentioned @TheDreadPirate, once you log into the Admin account, it remembers that you've signed in under that account and it shows on the sign in screen even if I've checked off "Hide this user from login screens". To get it to disappear again, I tried deleting the cache data for the app but it still appears. Deleting the app data works however you need to select your server again the next time open Jellyfin. As @FactoriedMyAuth mentions, it seems to work on other platforms so I'm guessing that Android TV works differently. |
