Explicit allow - Stack - 2023-08-03

Greetings,
Loving Jellyfin! Started using it at the beginning of the year and it's made a lot of things easier for me. A big Thank You! to all involved. :-)

I read these docs:
https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/users/adding-managing-users/

But that's a "share everything and block a few items" type approach and it's not very granular. I need the exact opposite. I need something where I explicitly say "this is ok to share" (a kid with specific challenges). Is there a way to do this?

I have a really awful hack where I created a specific Library for them (which others can also view) and then move content into that folder but it really breaks my nice folder organization structure Laughing and as I can verify/clear content I really don't want to have to be constantly shuffling things into it (which in turn makes the backups angry for large content). I keep thinking there has to be a better way, but I'm not coming up with one in my search-fu.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

If you are on Linux, you can make symbolic links in the folder your kid's library is in to folders in your main library. That's what I do for my daughter's library. I agree, a per movie/show allow function would be nice. But symbolic links work and means you don't have to duplicate data.

That's a great idea! I like it better then moving files around. Well, hopefully one day a per item share function will show up.
Thanks!
