Help setting up.. - yuppicide - 2024-05-02

So I've got it installed on Windows 10 desktop connected via ethernet cable. I have a Onn 65" Roku TV I'd love to play my media on.

So I installed Jellyfin and temporarily disabled Avast antivirus. Now it lets me login 192.168.1.10:8096 and see it in my web browser. I can't get it to find on my Roku TV.

I set it up with one library now of my TV shows.. when I browse it in the web it shows three things. How I Met Your Mother, Za-bum N. 2, aand M*A*S*H - and I have neither of those three on my hard drive.

What are the little circles with numbers? How many videos I have? I am guessing it is still trying to scan my media files.. 2643 How I met Your Mother, 1725 ZA-bum N. 2 and  4136 M*A*S*H and those numbers keep climbing. However, when I click M*A*S*H for example it shows me a picture of 3 Beavis and Butt-Head episodes. Clicking play pulls up a spinning circle that doesn't disappear.

Not sure why things have to be so complicated to setup. Any help is appreciated.

What are example folder and file names. It sounds like your media doesn't follow our guidelines.

The number in the circle are the number of unwatched episodes for that show.

For your Roku TV, are you relying on service discovery or are you manually typing in the server address?

I have to type it in 192.168.1.10:8096 as stated in OP. If I open Jellyfin it shows no available servers, yet the software is running.

EDIT: I may have just solved it. I went into Windows Firewall. I went into Inbound Rules, Public, and said Allow.
