Various clients issues on iPad - K-nap1 - 2024-05-06

edit: it was meant to be posted inĀ https://forum.jellyfin.org/f-troubleshooting, can someone move it there?

Hello.

A friend has a Jellyfin server. Working like a charm.
The only issue is that Chrome won't show HDR properly, but the standalone Windows app does.

Now, I want to watch streams on my iPad.

I tested three clients. Jellyfin Mobile, Swiftfin and Jellyflix.

Jellyfin Mobile: won't properly output HDR content (washed out)

Swiftfin: the interface works, but it won't load any stream at all :

Jellyflix: properly displays HDR content, but also lacks features (moving several seconds forward/backward for example). I also can't select another resolution/bitrate than the default one (it won't work and won't load the stream).

Jellyfin Mobile and Swiftfin are both more popular than Jellyflix, but I have trouble playing content on both of them.
Currently the only solution I have is using Jellyflix using the default quality setting and missing nice features.

How to troubleshoot the issues I have with Jellyfin Mobile and Swiftfin?

Any idea what could be the issues?

The Windows app will locally tone map HDR content to SDR since it does not support displaying actual HDR (yet).

It sounds like the server either can't or isn't configured to tone map HDR content.
