Jellyfin password reset - rvmeush - 2024-05-06
I have Jellyfin running in a Docker container on my Synology NAS. Recently my admin password got corrupted and I searched for instructions on how to do a password reset. I was a bit confused by some of the instructions so I thought I would post the procedure that worked for me.
I navigated to the login webpage for Jellyfin and selected the user account I wanted. I then selected the box that said "Forgot Password"
I went through a series of popup windows indicating that the selected password had been reset and that a reset PIN had been created in my Jellyfin directory. This was a little confusing, but I included a screenshot of my Synology Jellyfin directory showing the password reset file that had been created.
If you use a text editor to open the password reset file there are a series of digits (highlighted) at the beginning which is the new password PIN that should be used to login to the account with the forgotten password.
Once you login to the account with this PIN you can change the password to another one.
