Anyone have tips for video libraries that aren't movies/shows? - Hoby - 2024-05-09

I just started testing out Jellyfin for serving a video library and I'm wondering if anyone has advice for hosting videos that are NOT movies and/or tv series.

For example, if your library is just videos from the internet or home movies or whatever—it seems like there's no setting or set of features that are really made for this. It's all geared towards theatrical releases and television, regarding the metadata and navigation.

Can Jellyfin be good for this or would a different media server maybe work better?

I'd suggest the Music Videos library. If you don't install the IMVDB plugin, the Music Videos library doesn't pull metadata and will just show the file and folders. FWIW, there is a youtube metadata plugin.

If you refer to the YouTube metadata scanner plugin for Jellyfin, available at 'https://github.com/ankenyr/jellyfin-youtube-metadata-plugin', you may find that it has stopped working due to the latest update (v10.9.0). Unfortunately, I believe the author has not updated the plugin in approximately 3-4 years.
