Using AV1 encoding and decoding - sandbo - 2024-05-12 I just updated my server to Jellyfin 10.9.0, and the server has an Intel Arc A380 in it. I was excited to test the AV1 transcoding, but then I realized it was not being used as I tried to play something on my Windows 11 client (with the Player from Store). My client has an Nvidia 3070 which should also support AV1 decoding. Now it is still using HEVC, is there a way to force it to do AV1 transcoding? RE: Using AV1 encoding and decoding - nyanmisaka - 2024-05-12 Jellyfin 10.9 adds initial support for transcoding to AV1. AFAIK currently only the web client supports it, such as playback on Chrome/Edge and Firefox. If other clients cannot do this, please contact the corresponding developer and ask them to add AV1 over fMP4 to the transcoding profile. RE: Using AV1 encoding and decoding - sandbo - 2024-05-12 Thanks for the reply, but I also tried playing the video on Chrome, it was using instead H.264 (Chrome) or HEVC (Edge) for the codec. Could there be some setting I need to change? ![]() RE: Using AV1 encoding and decoding - TheDreadPirate - 2024-05-12 Did you enable AV1 encoding in Dashboard > Playback? It is not enabled by default. This screenshot is Chromium in Linux with a RX6800. |
