Japanese/Korean actor names not romanized after update to Jellyfin 10.9 - blopp - 2024-05-13 Following the Jellyfin 10.9 update, actor names from Japan and Korea are displayed in their native scripts instead of romanized text. This issue only affects libraries where the language setting is not English. When the library language is set to English, actor names are correctly displayed in romanized form. This behavior deviates from previous versions, where names were consistently romanized. RE: Japanese/Korean actor names not romanized after update to Jellyfin 10.9 - TheDreadPirate - 2024-05-13 The current behavior is the "corrected" behavior. AFAIK, there is no way to have the library be set to Japanese/Korean for some metadata but not others. RE: Japanese/Korean actor names not romanized after update to Jellyfin 10.9 - blopp - 2024-05-13 Hmm... perhaps I didn't articulate it clearly. My media library language is set to either French or German, yet the Japanese or Korean actor names are displayed in Korean or Japanese script. When I change the library language to English and rescan the library, the actor names switch to Latin script. Additionally, when using the manual identification option, the actor names are returned in Latin script as well. Library set to german: Library set to english: RE: Japanese/Korean actor names not romanized after update to Jellyfin 10.9 - TheDreadPirate - 2024-05-13 Ah. My bad. I would open a github issue. Looking at the code, it appears that it should always fallback to English if the language you selected doesn't have metadata for your show/movie. It clearly isn't being applied to actors. https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/blob/fd250e4fe1c1a35e8e40c008a7d25675729e3dac/MediaBrowser.Providers/Plugins/Tmdb/TmdbUtils.cs#L130 RE: Japanese/Korean actor names not romanized after update to Jellyfin 10.9 - blopp - 2024-05-13 It appears that there have been changes in TMDB (though I'm not exactly sure what they are), and now it seems to be falling back to a "Primary translation" or "Stage Name" instead of English. https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/662cdee3713ea6012b682b72 RE: Japanese/Korean actor names not romanized after update to Jellyfin 10.9 - Jannisberry - 2024-05-21 But idk if this is all, I've looked through some Anime on TMDB and found there to be German names and descriptions but it still grabs Japanese for some reason even tho it is available on the Website. Is there a discrepancy between the website and what is reported by the API? |
