Help - Nicolas_Ger - 2024-05-19

I recently updated Jellyfin 10.9.0 to 10.9.2. Now I get this message: "The server is expected to host the web client, but the provided content directory is either invalid or empty: /usr/lib/jellyfin/bin/jellyfin-web. If you do not want to host the web client with the server, you may set the '--nowebclient' command line flag, or set'hostwebclient=false' in your config settings."
I don't know how to fix the error. I've already tried to reinstall the web client but it tells me a newer or the same version is already installed. I can't access my server anymore, please help me.

What OS? I'm assuming Linux. If so, which distro?

RE: Help - Nicolas_Ger - 2024-05-25

My Server OS is Ubuntu 22.04.04 LTS, i have solved the problem by copying the (old) data from „/usr/share/jellyfin/web“ to „ /usr/lib/jellyfin/bin/jellyfin-web“. But I had to set up the server completely again, add all the directories ect. It always worked before, but now it doesn't. After an update/upgrade I'll probably have to set everything up again, which bothers me a lot because it involves a lot of work

I'm not sure what to make of your statement. It sounded like jellyfin-server was upgraded/installed but jellyfin-web wasn't. Or the permissions were somehow changed. None of what you said you did should have wiped out your settings or Jellyfin data.

I don't understand it either. I've tried to reinstall jellyfin web several times but it always said that a newer or the same version was already installed. I think it was simply installed in the wrong place but I don't understand why. There was never a problem before, only after the update to jellfin 10.9.2. The error came up and I could no longer access the web interface until I moved the entire folder. I don't know which permissions prevented this, perhaps you know. This is my first Ubuntu server, maybe it was an update of Ubuntu that caused this problem.
