Disable changes on Collection - jsonting - 2024-05-19

How can i prevent further changes to certain collections every time i scan all libraries?
One frustrating thing is that i really dislike how TMDB identify collections. For instance, they don't recognize DC Cinematic Universe, instead they separate them into Man of Steel collection etc.
I just want Jellyfin to identify movies and collection for only the first time, then i can rename, reorganize base on my preference.
Is there a way to do that?

Currently i have to customize a new collection by my preference, but there's always a duplicate collection in the library.

Click on the "..." context menu for the collection, "Edit Metadata", near the bottom there is a check box to "lock this item". Try that out.

I am afraid this does not work as intended, at least not for members of a collection as I have noticed before (https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-managing-collections?pid=22049#pid22049). So I am afraid this issue is still awaiting a solution...

Anyone found a fix for this?
This is really frustrating.....
Talked to guys at TMDB and they won't budge with they way they identify their collection.

Can devs at Jellyfin gives us the option to lock certain movies in our desired collection please?

You could turn off the TMDB box sets scheduled job.

I am experiencing this too. Some of my collections need editing. I hate to see "Collection" in front of my names so I prefer to place it at the end instead. Even locking the collection, everytime I click scan libraries, the collection title is reset again to what I don't want, before my editing. How can it still change the collection title while its locked?

Same here, I tried to edit the metadata, to edit the nfo file, but Jellyfin still continues to discard my changes and chooses the collection from TMDB (and I agree, lots of them has no logic).

Just for the Collection? Personnally, I think it is the only problème I have with the software, the rest is ok.

RE: Disable changes on Collection - SavanFlou - 2024-09-20

So I tried to disable the schedule job, to desactivate the search for information into the "Collection" parameters... but all the information keeps being changed.
I also tried to
- unlock the information.
- change the information.
- relock the information.
but information can still be changed.
To be complete,
I changed for some titles, synopsis and added people, title and synopsis have be changed, but people are still there. I did not try other changes.

It seems if I change something for movies, the changes can be locked but that does not work for collections.

So... it seems the problem was not really Jellyfin.

To explain, at first, I had all my movies on my NAS and I simply used Kodi to have the information. So Kodi had created some nfo with information about the movies, not about the collection, but a collection name was implemented in the nfo of the movie.
But I did not updated those nfo before starting Jellyfin and linked it to Kodi, so in my case I think it was the reason for all this problem.

I erased the nfo files, made the changes in the metadata and for now they are kept.

So... it was not the good solution after all Smiling-face.
From time to time, the "not good" collections re-appeared BUT at least, as I created new ones with my correct names, they were still there, I "just had" to delete them but they came back at some point.
I tried to move some dossiers (I wanted for some time to reorganize it, it was the good opportunity), but they always came back for some reason.

For now (5 days which is very long for this), I only have my collections thanks to those steps.
- I deleted all the bad collections (if you do not know the tricks, click on the 3 dots of one bad collection, then select, then click to all the ones you want to delete and then THE 3 DOTS AT THE TOP RIGHT, delete). Don't know if it is necessary but I did it so...
- I analysed my movie database, by replacing all the metadata (again, do not know if it is necessary to do with this parameter, but that works for me. And I have not sees lots of changes).
- at the end, I deleted one last time the bad collections and for now that stays good.

I have, associated to each movie, a nfo file, and the information is not correct for the set. Besides editing each file and putting the one I want, I do not know how to update them with my information through Jellyfin but, knock on wood, it seems to stay like that.

Edit : just to precise, the schedule job is still disable.
