Update 10.8.X to 10.9.X Synology - cpu77 - 2024-05-22

hAbout 3 weeks ago I setup my new Synology NAS and added the Jellyfin server.   I love it!   I currently run 10.8.13.  Is there a guide for updating a Jellyfin on the Synology NAS?  I am a newb to all of this.  I did download the latest image for my Container/Docker 10.9.2.  If someone could nudge me in the right direction.   The older I get the harder all of this seems to be.  The last Linux OS I used 4.3.X Free BSD for our DNS servers back in 2000.  I am a little out of practiceSlightly-frowning-face

You'll upset people by referring to FreeBSD as Linux, wars have been fought over less Smiling-face

You've got a few options.
  • Wait for the Synology Container Manager app to pick up that there's a new image available and then update.
  • Deploy something like Watchtower https://github.com/containrrr/watchtower and set it to auto-update your continers. This isn't without risk.
  • If you deployed it as a project via Container Manager or using docker compose, then you can run "docker-compose down && docker-compose pull && docker-compose up -d" as a suitably privileged user from the directory containing the compose file.

I have a script I run that does the latter option for me when I want to update any containers.
