How to choose which QuickSync device is used for HWA? - theolaa - 2024-05-25 Hello! I have an Intel Arc A380 installed which has been giving me trouble (I read that I need to upgrade my Linux kernel from 5.15 to 6.*), and the CPU in that system is an Intel i3-10100. Until I get around to upgrading the OS, how can I ensure that the i3 is used for QuickSync? I have issues playing back media that was no issue before which I suspect is due to the presence of the A380, and I'd like to specify that HWA should be handled by the i3-10100? Is that possible? System: Intel i3-10100 Intel Arc A380 Currently Linux Mint 20.3 (planning to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 for the newer kernel) Jellyfin 10.9.2 RE: How to choose which QuickSync device is used for HWA? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-05-26 You can't. Even with a docker setup, which GPU gets assigned to a particular renderD12X number is random. When you do upgrade your kernel you will have to disable your iGPU in your BIOS. Until then you need to remove the A380 from your system entirely. Also, you need at least kernel 6.2. I've already located the necessary bios setting, and Ubuntu 24.04 uses kernel 6.8 so that should fine. I'm just a bit slow to make the switch because I'm trying to gracefully migrate my jellfin library and my seedbox at the same, which is proving to be quite the process. Thanks again for your advice |
