Message telling me to update the server - thecoffeecode - 2024-05-26

I'm running Jellyfin in Docker on my Raspberry Pi 5 and Jellyfin Media Player (Flatpak) on my laptop with Fedora. Recently I started receiving this message to update my server. I have made sure to update both the Media Player and the server on the Raspberry Pi. Every time I open the application it asks me to select the server again and gives me this message. I can't find a way around it.

I don't get this message when I log in using my phone or tablet. I've also tried uninstalling the Flatpak and reinstalling.

Any suggestions?

Edit: It seems that none of my devices are able to play videos. I checked on my phone and tablet and I get errors saying it's incompatible or source error. I can still log into the server on these two device, just can't play anything. I also can't play anything through the browser.

What server version are you running? I'm assuming 10.8.13.

Same issue here. It's a fresh install of 10.8.13 on Fedora 40. And I can't even set the server up because it insists I have to update it. But 10.8.13 is the newest Fedora version available, so updating it is not an option.

(I had tried a container under Podman, but it doesn't bring up the setup window, and wants a password even though I never created a user/password)

The Jellyfin Project no longer builds RPMs. But there are community builds for 10.9.X you can install on Fedora.

No, first the packages don't show up with "dnf check-update". Then if you download the updated packages that ARE available, jellyfin-web is still missing.

So again, there needs to be a way to tell Jellyfin to IGNORE it's check for new versions, especially when I'm trying to do the initial setup. Consider that sometimes you may not be ABLE to do the update just then (such as here), so tell the user/admin there is a new version if you absolutely MUST, but then go away and let us get on with our work.

The check exists because older versions are not compatible. APIs are used that do not exist in older versions of the server.

The versions available to install from rpmfusion are still 10.8.13 on Fedora 40 :-(
