Budget Server - Simzy - 2024-05-28
I was wondering if I could get some opinions on this server that is for a personal server with no more than 10 people watching at once https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZKsTh3, 1080p is what I am aiming for because no one who would be watching it would be watching 4k anyway.

If you're not going to put in a dedicated GPU, I STRONGLY suggest you use an Intel CPU. Intel Quick Sync, even on their iGPUs, are light years ahead of AMD's.
At least 8th Gen Intel.

I was actually thinking of an Intel Arc GPU but I wasnt sure how they are doing with transcoding right now.

Intel Arc GPUs are transcoding champs, IMO. The entire Arc lineup has the same encoding engine so getting the base A380 will get you the same transcoding performance as the top A770.
Also, if you are going the Intel Arc route, you can stick with your motherboard choice. But consider spending 19 GBP more and get the Ryzen 5500 instead of the 3400G. You get 2 more cores and those cores are full Zen 3 cores instead of cut down Zen+ cores.

I have the Fractal Meshify 2 and love it. Roomy, has a bunch of drive slots, a bit pricey compared to your selection.
Also consider getting a lower power PSU. Over specing the PSU for a low power system means that you are always way outside of the PSUs efficiency range, which peaks around to 50%.
Other than that, your part list looks good.

Lowering the PSU is something I was already considering, to something like a 500w which still gives me room for adding more drives without going over, the case is more a way of just having something that I could put into a cupboard and forget about unless I was adding or upgrading parts.

You're cheating by posting a picture before everything is hooked up....I tried my damndest, but I can never get cables pretty the way I want.

You're cheating by posting a picture before everything is hooked up....I tried my damndest, but I can never get cables pretty the way I want.
I thought I had more SATA cables, but I cleaned out my bin-o-cables during COVID lockdown. So it is an ugly mish-mash of SATA cables I had remaining. And my cheap-ish power supply ran out of SATA power connectors so I had to use a bunch of splitters to hookup all the drives.
It's not pretty, so you get the pre-cabling pic instead.

I have a nas and now I'm running proxmox on NUC with jellyfin in a lxc.
I'm searching about buying the cheapest mini pc that is able to transcode as much als possible for at least 2 streams.
anyone a good advice?
