1st Jellyfin Server - Lynellia617 - 2024-06-07 I'm looking to build my first jellyfin server. I'm thinking of using ProxMox as the OS (but open to other OS if there is a better one out there) I'm trying to figure out what hardware to use and think I have it narrowed down to a few options. Option 1: HP Elitedesk 800G3 SFF with quad core i5-6500 16GB DDR4 1TB SSD + 500GB HDD (I like this option because it seems like it has alot of store for a decent price and ive seen online that I could possibly squeeze in another hard drive if I wanted to later. Option 2: HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini PC with Intel Core i5-8500 with 16GB DDR4 SDRAM, 512 GB SSD Option 3: HP EliteDesk 800 G5 mini PC with Intel Core i5-9500T with 16 GB DDR4, 256 GB NVME SSD which of those 3 do you think is the best option to get started with? or would either be good and I can't really make a wrong choice? Has any one used either of these, if so what are your thoughts on them? RE: 1st Jellyfin Server - bitmap - 2024-06-07 Either of the latter two have the same iGPU which will support QuickSync. The first option is old enough that you won't get a ton of benefit from hardware acceleration, but should still be able to use VA-API. The latter two options are likely a toss-up if this is a dedicated machine for Jellyfin. For extra storage, you'd be looking at adding (likely) 2.5" drives if there are open/convertible bays or using external drives or drive bays. RE: 1st Jellyfin Server - 34626 - 2024-06-07 Of those three options, id say No. 3 - best CPU. But you will need external storage (I would not recommend using the OS drive for the media) |
