GPU Suggestions - RockyBee99 - 2024-06-09

Hello, new to Jellyfin.

Setup:
CPU- 2400g
RAM- 2x8gb 3200
MB- X470 Gaming pro

My fiancee and I want to use the setup as a HTPC (YouTube, Google, Jellyfin, etc...) and Jellyfin will ONLY be for our living room TV (58" 4k 60hz) and nothing else.

I recently scored a ton of movies and series from a yard sale. They are mostly 1080p, but there are a bunch that are 4k.
The hdmi on the MB is only 1.4(4k 30hz).
Can you suggest a cost/energy efficient GPU (with hdmi 2.0) that will play 4k 60hz movies without a problem and look nice?

Is the Jellyfin server running on the HTPC or is the HTPC just a client?

If the PC running jellyfin will only be used for jellyfin, Intel Arc. They're cheap, produce high quality transcodes at really high FPS, and support AV1 encoding.

Jellyfin would be running on the HTPC.

For example: Watching YouTube or looking up something random on Google, then deciding to watch a movie/series, so we'd close the browser, and then from desktop click on Jellyfin.

Ok.
We'd use it like a PC for browsing the internet, then close the browser and then from desktop click on Jellyfin to watch our media.

As long as you aren't gaming, Intel Arc.
