Can't change display language on Google TV app - Melarith - 2024-06-13
I'm not seeing an option to change the display language on the Jellyfin app after downloading it to Google TV.
Settings work fine on the web interface, but on the app, it's defaulted to my TV's display language, with no obvious way of changing it. I went into my account settings on the web version and changed the language from Auto to English under Display, but it hasn't made a difference, even after restarting the server.

- Did you install Jellyfin for Android, or Jellyfin for Android TV (silly question, but it needs to be asked)?
- Are you wanting to change the display language in the Jellyfin interface, or the default language to be played in the media?
- Which language is it showing in now?

1. Double-checked just in case, but it is Jellyfin for Android TV.
2. Probably should've clarified that! I'm looking to change the display language of the Jellyfin interface, not the language the media plays in.
3. Swedish, which is what my TV's display language is set to.

Well, I see your problem now.
I couldn't find any language setting in the Jellyfin for Android TV app, so I changed the language setting of the Android TV device and re-booted, and Jellyfin was still in English.
Two things that come to mind that I didn't try are;
- clear data/cache or uninstall/re-install the app after changing the device's language (this might be problematic if you want other Android apps to display in Swedish).
- change the base language of the server from the dashboard (this might be problematic if you have other users who need to have their interface in Swedish).
