force jellyfin to identify media from embeded metadata - Mussaka - 2024-06-30 Hi I don't know if this subject has allready been discussed, I tried to look for it but didn't find anything. To my knowledge, jellyfin can identify a movie from filename (e.g: movie name (year).mkv) Well I also want to organise my files and look at it outside of jellyfin. So for exemple, if I transcode some Marvel movies from DVD and wanted to class them by story order and not release order. I would like to name them like this :
So "MCU" group them together, the number class them, and the title and date help you identify which movie it is. But if I do that jellyfin won't reconise which film it is even if the "Title" and "Release date" in the metadata are written. I told jellyfin to "prefer embedded titles over filenames" but it has not effect on identifying movies. Could it be possible to force jellyfin to identify movies from embedded metadata ? What are your thought on this question ? Sorry about my english, it is not my mother tongue. I which you all a good day Mussaka RE: force jellyfin to identify media from embeded metadata - TheDreadPirate - 2024-06-30 Yes and no. You canNOT give them file names like that to achieve that ordering. A) It will mess up identification, possibly and B) It won't sort the movies once they are identified. But once you've added them to your library with just a plain file name you can edit their metadata and there is a field called "Sort title" that you can use to order your MCU movies in whatever order you want. |
