Android TV (Firestck 4K Ultra) and remote playback issue - jcdick - 2024-07-08

I have a user with a new Firestick 4K Ultra.  They've been contacting me because on some of the material they try to watch, the stream will often suddenly stop in the middle of the episode and move on to the next, sometimes just trying to load the second episode and then moving on to the third.  The first episode will show as being not completed to allow a resume, but the resume will fail, as well.  Starting over and fast-forwarding to where it previously quit gets the same result, but not always at the same timestamp.  It may be a few minutes earlier that it quits on resume.  But never goes past the original exit timestamp.

I'm not sure what to look for in the logs, as they are very long and hard to follow when there are seven or eight streams simultaneously.

They didn't report these issues prior to the 10.9.X upgrade.

Thanks for any insight/assistance!

Have that user try explicitly setting their preferred player to libVLC in the Jellyfin app.

Sorry getting back to this has taken awhile. They're in their 80s and live 500 miles away.

The preferred player is already set for LibVLC (experimental).

It would cause "log file spam" I'm sure, but boy, would it make things easier if there were log files created on a per session basis.

Could you share your full jellyfin log via pastebin? Preferably from a day where you know this problem happened. If it was transcoding, could you also share the associated ffmpeg log? And provide a file name so we can find the appropriate logs.
