Feature Requests vlc external - HERIGROSIR - 2024-07-08 Of course I know how Jellyfin works to play movie files with Transcoding Complete transcoding, this will burden server performance if your client is watching more than 100 people or more than that I suggest to developers, to be given a choice You can play it by transcoding or you can play with external vlc either admin or client can choose that The developer only needs to add an option here to select external VLC software by playing the movie via VLC directly it will not burden server performance movie files on the .mkv server, easily played by vlc no need for transcoding That's my input to the developer, so that it can be used as evaluation material to make this Jellyfin software even better Thank You RE: Feature Requests vlc external - Efficient_Good_5784 - 2024-07-08 This feature request already is possible. Platforms that can install VLC should be able to install Jellyfin Media Player (JMP) or MPV Shim. Both JMP and MPV Shim use MPV as the player which works on par with VLC (or if not, possibly better). MPV can direct play MKV files and ASS subs too. Here are their respective github pages: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-media-player https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-mpv-shim |
