Issue with Random EAC3 Content - voelkl - 2024-07-14
Hi everyone,
I'm having a recurring issue with some EAC3 content on my Jellyfin server. Randomly, certain EAC3 files won't play on any client, showing a "no compatible streams" error. It's not all EAC3 content, just some.
I've tried adjusting the stereo downmixing settings with no success. My current workaround is to replace the problematic content with another copy, but I'd prefer a permanent solution.
I'm looking to understand what causes this error and find a way to either prevent this codec issue or ensure proper transcoding. Sorry if this is a basic question, but I haven't found any helpful info so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jellyfin and ffmpeg have no issues with EAC3 so the problem is likely with the videos being corrupt or malformed or something. What happens when you try to re-encode the problem videos?
