Not yet fix? - Alliyance - 2024-07-16

I opened an issue (#1665 roku) last january on Github and i wonder why this isn't fix yet?  I also opened a second issue with android tv subtitles last May (#11776 Jellyfin server). Wonder why does it takes so long to get it fix?

They will get fixed when any dev works on the issues.

Jellyfin is free and open source software. That means you or anybody can make contributions to fix the issue. If nobody is interested on working on some issue, you'll have to wait for someone who is.

And there is also the issue of reproducibility. If a dev can't reproduce a problem, it is hard to figure out what code to fix.

Especially if the problem is caused by a quirk in the source media.

I understand all of the above but why screw up something that was working perfectly fine before?

I would rather pay for Jellyfin and have more people working on certains issues.

Sometimes adding new additions or improvements to a product introduces unforseen consequences. In this case, a regression was introduced. Unless you can find evidence it was done on purpose, those issues were introduced unintentionally despite previously working.

Most likely it's not as easy switching back the code that pertains to the player as there could be new things that depend on it.

All the previous releases of the Roku app are available on the Jellyfin github. You have the power to switch back to older versions of the software if those worked better for you.
