possible issue - edwardsmarkf - 2024-07-20 hello - TOTAL NEWBIE just getting started here. when I first installed jellyfin, I pointed the data to D:\media\ then I created a couple of libraries, I pointed to D:\media\videofileOne, D:\media\videofileTwo\ and everything worked just fine. later, I created a third library that I just pointed to D:\media\ with no subdirectories, since there was already several media files there. this new library seemed to create all sorts of issues. so I removed jellyfin and reinstalled it. upon thinking about it, I realize I should not have created a library at the jellyfin "root" library. but I am wondering if jellyfin might want to block that sort of thing from happening again in a future release. or maybe I am the first one to ever do something so foolish? (it was not the first time I did something dumb I assure you, just first with jellyfin) RE: possible issue - Efficient_Good_5784 - 2024-07-20 You need to follow the sorting of your media as recommended in the documentation: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows/ https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/ When you link a library in Jellyfin to a folder on your system, Jellyfin expects the top-most subfolders to all be different shows or movies. It's also not a good idea with what you did. You linked a library to a folder that has other libraries linked. That will cause issues for you. |
