Jellyfin Clients not working - wbravin - 2024-07-25

Hello all

I'm running jellyfin as an app on trunas which is in turn a promox vm

The jellyfin app was updated yesterday to version 10.9.8.

I can open the web porthole in truenas and all the jellyfin functions work perfectly

However on all my device on which i installed jellyfin client, i can no longer access the andy media icon on the menu scree and reach the underlaying media. This happens to my Music Movies and Tv Shows. Furthermore  i can not reach any of my list of music playlists ao my "collections" of movies.

How can i fix this issue?

In addition is there a way to have Jellyfin update all medias when it starts?

Can you try deleting the jellyfin client cache? Under Windows look in %appdata% for Jellyfin and delete/rename both Jellyfin folders.

Hello Thank you for your prompt response

Sorry I did not mention in my previous post That I deleted (uninstalled) the client on 2 windows Pcs and this did not resolve the issue.

Furthermore as i summarily mentioned here above

I can play recently added songs/albums however if i try to play a recent added video or continue to watch a video I do hear the sound but i do not see the video

I do not know if this is my setup or a disconnect between client and server

Once again thank yoy

Maybe I misunderstood your issue then.

Just to clarify, if you go to the admin site in the jellyfin app, do you see the correct jellyfin version?

Yes I did

On 2 pcs I deleted Jellyfin client and I downloaded and installed from the jallyfin site "jellyfin_10.9.8_windows-x64"

to no avail.

Double click on jellyfin icon
get the jellyfin gui
Gui present icons for Music Playlists Movies Collections and Tv Shows (if i click on any of these icons *thumbnails" nothing happens

Here i have icons on the latest additions or currently watching videos (if i click on any of them i ngere the sound but no video is displayed(

Recently added Albums If i click on any of these album icons It will play the music. I can click on the album see the content of the album play a track and if i click on the track that is playing I can see the queue playing

If i click on any of them i will hear the sound track however once again i do not see the video

Can you directly link what client you're installing onto your Windows PC?

Looks like you're using the server installer which is not a client.

Also, are you using Truenas Core? Core is not supported by Jellyfin, and many people have come here having issues with it.

If you want to host Jellyfin on Truenas, consider switching to Truenas Scale as it has a dedicated Jellyfin app (maintained by iXSystems, not the Jellyfin devs).

fyi
I just downloaded JellyfinMediaPlayer-1.11.1-windows-x64 from github still no joy

Everything worked perfectly before updates on all pcs and on android phones

Two things.

If you are accessing in a browser, ctrl + f5 to full refresh or delete the site data stored in your browser for jellyfin. Or clear the browser cache entirely. You browser may still be loading the cached version of jellyfin-web 10.9.7 instead of .8.

Same with Jellyfin Media Player. It also uses the server's jellyfin-web, but also has a local cache. To clear the JMP cache go to C:\Users\yourUser\appdata\local. There will be a "jellyfinmediaplayer" and "Jellyfin Media Player" folder. Delete both. Open Jellyfin Media Player and log back in.

@wbravin, why are you running the server on Truenas and Windows? You only need one server. In this case, it looks like the Truenas Jellyfin server is your main one, so delete the Windows server.

Then make sure you're connecting the Jellyfin Media Player client to the Truenas Jellyfin server.

hello all i Managed to get this working on a win 11 pc. however i get the following error on a win 10 pc.

i deleted the client and through regedit
i deleted all jellyfin entries and i get the following error

IMHO when i reinstall the client the client should ask me to login to the server, it does not

my credentials on this pc is administrator

what do i need to do?
